"Solidarity is not a feeling of vague compassion or shallow distress at the misfortunes of so many people, both near and far. On the contrary, it is a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good; to the good of all and each individual, because we are all really responsible for all."
Pope John Paul II, On Social Concerns, 1987
We are all invited this Lenten season beginning on Ash Wednesday to act on the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Our parish focus for almsgiving is our four Global Solidarity partners: Bread for the World, Chimbote Mission in Peru, the Fatima House Orphanage in Fondwa, Haiti through Partners in Progress, and Queen of Apostles Academy (Fr. Fred’s School) in Uganda. There will be an envelope for our Lenten almsgiving among the April envelopes as well as a listing in Faith Direct, also in April. Please be generous. Also, remember these global partners and those they serve in prayer during the Lenten Season.
If you are interested in learning more about our partners or to make a contribution, please call Denise Charron-Prochownik at 412.352.0627 or Joyce Rothermel at 412.780.5118.
