Update from Fr. Tom Burke on our churches reopening for Mass...
Just wanted to give everyone an update on how our first week and weekend of reopening of Mass went…it was a true success!!
Daily Mass- Monday thru Saturday averaged 18 to 23 people daily for Mass at the St. Bede Campus and we had 7 students and families come for make -up of First Reconciliation Saturday morning. Both Fr. Taylor and I were on for Confessions. Make up sessions for the remainder for the 2nd grade families will take place the next two Saturdays - June 13 and 20. First Holy Communion will be held on two Sundays for families to choose - July 12 and August 16 at 2pm at the St. Bede Campus.
Weekend Masses went smooth. We had 43 people for Saturday evening at St. James, 34 people at the 9 am at Mother of Good Counsel and 60 people at the 11 am at St. Bede. Ushers were on hand for all three Masses and parishioners and visitors all cooperated with wearing masks and sitting social distancing. Communion at the end of mass went smooth.
The Tribune Review has a nice front page article in this Sunday morning’s edition regarding churches reopening up. I was interviewed for the article.
Channel 11 –WPXI was at the 11 am Mass this morning filming and interviewed me about the reopening process.
Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions and help. We will continue to tweak and evaluate if needed.
Grateful to our parish staff and parish volunteers for their countless hours of preparation this past week. We did it!
Bravo!
Fr. Tom
