Over 20 parishioners from Saint Mary Magdalene Parish and Saint Benedict The Moor Parish went on a sacred journey to the National Black Catholic Congress in July. There were more than 3000 people in attendance from across, and, a few from outside of the U.S.
The theme was “Write the Vision: A Prophetic Call to Thrive,” based on Habakkuk 2:2-4. Some highlights included a Mass in the Basilica and a trip to The National Museum of African American History.
The journey to the NBCC, which only occurs every 5 years, was a tremendous opportunity to fellowship with others, to discuss common current issues and the issues that brought us to this point, and to also think of what possibilities there are, so together, we can move forward strengthening our faith and envisioning our acceptance of all of God's people.
