December 4 and 5, 2021
Our names are Katie and Denise Prochownik
And we are the representatives of Queen of Apostles School in Uganda for St. MM Global Solidarity Partners’ Committee.
Global Solidarity Committee has 4 partners.
We have almsgiving by Parish collection twice a year: Advent and Lent
Each week in Advent, we present one partner, this week is Fr. Fred’s QOA in Kyrero, Uganda.
Many of you know Fr Fred when he lived and ministered at St Bede while he received his PhD at Duquesne U. Currently, he is now celebrating his 25th anniversary of his ordination.
Fr Fred’s family donated farmland to build a high school for poor local children and orphans who would not have the opportunity to become educated. “Education is key to becoming a productive and successful citizen”.
We had the pleasure of accompanying Fr Fred on one his trips home and got to meet his family and the students, teachers and staff at QOA. They are amazing!! They are the kindest, most charitable, and welcoming people I’ve ever met.
At the time they had no electricity or running water. There was no nearby health care facility in their small mountainous village.
With your contributions… students have been given scholarships, books for the library, an energy efficient bathroom system, new kitchen, solar panels for electricity… and most recently these past 2 years- a clean water system and a health clinic.
Here’s a note from Fr Fred that he sent last week to all of you:
“I want to thank you for your past and present support for Queen of Apostles Academy in Kyerero village. Thank you for contributing to the education and maintenance of many poor, orphan, disadvantaged, and unfortunate children. Your kindness and generosity mean a lot because it makes a difference.
Through individually and/or through Global Solidarity Ministry Support with St. Magdalene/St. Bede Parish, we are continuing to do a lot to improve the conditions of the poor in Kyerero community. We are about to complete installing more water tanks and taps at the school and the school clinic, which we have called Queen of Peace, it is about to be completed. It will serve students, staff, and neighborhood communities. All of these are achieved because of you. THANK YOU.
I keep you in my heart and pray for you.
Blessings.
Fr. Fred”
